The Gaffer (DH)

Based at Pittwater, The Gaffer is racing out of the CYCA in the 2025 Audi Centre Sydney Blue Water Pointscore to ramp up their chances in the final race – the Rolex Sydney Hobart. Owner, Robert Frayne, previously owned the Sydney 38, Mille Sabords, with which he placed third in Sydney 38 Division in the 2019 Rolex Sydney Hobart – the 75^th race.

Double handed partner, Richard Dumas, was aboard with him for that race. The J/99s, the smallest boats in the fleet this year, are doing well competition wise. New to offshore racing, The Gaffer placed sixth overall in the Double Handed Division of September’s Flinders Islet Race. There are five J/99’s in the race, all sailing double handed and all have what it takes. This will be a great race within the race.
