Position reports are provided by boats by HF radio in “skeds” conducted by a team headed by CYCA Past Commodore David Kellett  on the Radio Relay Vessel MV JBW kindly made available to CYCA by John Winning of Appliances Online.  

With the assistance of Royal Yacht Club of Tasmania, the skeds are streamed through the race website. 

This is a recording of the sked conducted with the fleet on the morning of 27 December, with the static and atmospheric interference just as the boats hear it.  At the end of the sked a number of boats are heard complying with their obligation to confirm to JBW that they are in a satisfactory state to enter Bass Strait.
