Get involved in the build-up to the 2021 Rolex Sydney Hobart Yacht Race, with plenty of exciting events both on and off water.

Friday 3 - Tuesday 7 December: Inaugural Australian Maxi Championship

The Cruising Yacht Club of Australia will host the inaugural Australian Maxi Championship from 3-7 December 2021.

This regatta was introduced by Australian Sailing to provide additional valuable racing for Maxis and Racer Cruisers.

The 2021 Australian Maxi Championship will be conducted over four races and will feature Maxis (80-100 foot), Mini Maxis (60-79 foot) and Racer Cruisers (60 foot+).

Friday 3 December: Cabbage Tree Island Race

The third race in the 2021/22 Audi Centre Sydney Blue Water Pointscore will start at 1900hrs on Friday 3 December.

The 180 nautical mile race attracts more than 40 competitors each year, with many Rolex Sydney Hobart Yacht Race competitors using the Cabbage Tree Island Race to qualify and as crew training.

The race starts near Point Piper and takes the fleet north to Cabbage Tree Island (just north of Port Stephens) before returning to finish in Sydney Harbour. 

Monday 6 December: Australian Maxi Championship

Competitors across all three divisions in the Australian Maxi Championship will compete in two passage races. 

Tuesday 7 December: SOLAS Big Boat Challenge

Some of Australia's biggest racing yachts come together to flex their muscle in the annual SOLAS Big Boat Challenge. 

The race is a thrill for competitors and spectators alike as the mini maxis, maxis and super maxis do battle on Sydney Harbour.

There is even more on the line in 2021, as the final race in the Australian Maxi Championship's Maxi and Mini Maxi Divisions.

Friday 10 December: Rolex Sydney Hobart Yacht Race Corporate Luncheon

The Rolex Sydney Hobart Yacht Race Corporate Luncheon returns in 2021, supporting the important work of the CYCA's SOLAS Trust.

The luncheon will be hosted by renowned sports commentator Gordon Bray, with Matt Allen - owner/skipper of Ichi Ban, Mark Richards - skipper of Wild Oats XI and Adrienne Cahalan OAM - Australian Sailing Hall of Fame member - the guest speakers.

Friday 10 - Sunday 12 December: Sydney Hobart Classic Yacht Regatta

Another strong fleet is building for the 2021 Sydney Hobart Classic Yacht Regatta, with some of Australia's most historic boats set to take to Sydney Harbour for three days of racing.

An invitational race on Friday will be followed by a pursuit race on Saturday and a scratch race on Sunday.

The annual regatta, organised by the Cruising Yacht Club of Australia, is open to any yacht launched prior to 1976 that has competed in at least one Sydney Hobart Yacht Race.

With many former Sydney Hobart winners amongst the fleet, the Sydney Hobart Classic Yacht Regatta has become a popular celebration of the history and heritage of Australia's premier ocean race.

The 2021 Sydney Hobart Classic Yacht Regatta will be proudly supported by Marriott.

Saturday 11 December: CYCA Trophy

The CYCA Trophy is another important event leading into the 2021 Rolex Sydney Hobart Yacht Race.

Competitors will do some fine tuning in their final race before Boxing Day. 

Thursday 16 December: Official VIP & Skippers Launch

The countdown to the 2021 Rolex Sydney Hobart Yacht Race continues with the Official VIP & Skippers Launch in the Sydney Race Village.

Saturday 18 December: Crew Party

Always a popular event, the Crew Party brings together competitors for a pre-race celebration in the Sydney Race Village. 

Monday 20 December: Commodore's Beer & Prawn Night

Noel Cornish AM, Commodore of the Cruising Yacht Club of Australia, will host the traditional Commodore's Beer & Prawn Night in the Sydney Race Village.

Tickets will be available shortly.  

Sunday 26 December: 2021 Rolex Sydney Hobart Yacht Race

The 2021 Rolex Sydney Hobart Yacht Race will start at 1300hrs on Sunday 26 December.

Boxing Day is Family Day in the Sydney Race Village, an ideal location to watch the race start live on the large outdoor screen, with plenty of activities for the whole family.

Any COVID-19 restrictions will be advised prior to the Sydney Race Village opening.

Monday 27 December: Hobart Race Village opens

The Hobart Race Village opens at 1200hrs on Monday 27 December.

With daily live music, Q&As on stage and the Devil's Corner Bar, this is the perfect spot to watch the fleet finish.

Any COVID-19 restrictions will be advised prior to the Hobart Race Village opening.

Friday 31 December: Rolex Sydney Hobart Yacht Race Prize Giving

The Hotel Grand Chancellor Hobart will again host the Prize Giving Ceremony, with winners across all divisions acknowledged.
