Profile
Alcyone formerly Gypsy Queen is a well experienced Hobart racer having participated on numerous occasions and taking 2nd place to Solveig in the 1954 race. This was a fine effort as she sailed the last 200 miles of this race with a jury rigged tiller. The present owner purchased her in 1956 and has since sailed her consistently in harbour and offshore events, meeting with some success in both these fields. She was built by N Jacks and Son of Launceston. She is sporting a new rig this year to improve her handicap rating and will be trying hard to snatch the elusive Tattersalls Cup.
