Profile
One of the first steel yachts built in Australia, Southern Maid competed in the 1946, 1947 and 1948 Sydney Hobart races. Now, with new sails and completely refitted by her new owner, Phil Deaton, she is looking her old self. Rating too high to have much chance on handicap, given the right conditions she could give the leaders a fright.
