After three selection races, Otago was the top scoring boat in the Tasmanian Southern Cross Cup trials, sailing exceptionally well for a boat designed and built in 1979. However, she has good qualifications, as under her original name of Vanguard (nee Ragamuffin (4)) she was an outstanding ocean racer out of Sydney.
