New Farr 40 being built by Ian Franklin in New Zealand for this well-known Sydney yachtsman, with a launching due in early November. The new Southern Cross, replacing the Farr 37 which Bill Gilbert campaigned so well, is the latest Farr 40 design (#209). With a month or more to tune up the new boat, the latest Southern Cross should be strong contender in the 1988 Sydney to Hobart.
