One of the most remarkable older style one-tonner is still racing competitively, Stormy Petrel and her veteran owner/skipper Tony Pearson continue to regularly win races under IOR and Illingworth handicaps. Pearson this year was named NorTel Ocean Racing Veteran Yachtsmen of the Year. Stormy Petrel won the 1970 One Ton Cup, the only Australian yacht to achieve this success.
