Previous wins for this yacht include; line honours in the '89 West Coaster Race, and the '91 Adelaide Port Lincoln Race, in which he broke the record with America's Cup helmsman Fred Neill at the helm. Helsal II also won her division in the 50th anniversary Sydney Hobart.
