Although now more than 30 years old, Breakaway has an excellent racing record including winning the Melbourne Devonport race, and twice finishing in the top three of the Ocean Racing Club of Victoria's Winter Series. She finished second overall in the 1998 Melbourne Stanley race and second in IMS division the of the 1998 and 1999 Sydney to Hobart races, proving that she is still in top form for her age.
