Originally called Ichi Ban and raced by CYCA Vice-Commodore Matt Allen, Goldfinger has recently been purchased by Peter Blake and Kate Mitchell who owned Kontrol.  Blake has taken line honours twice in the Melbourne-Hobart Westcoaster race and holds the record for the Melbourne-Stanley Race.

Peter Blake skippered Kontrol into second place across the line in the 2003 race from Melbourne to Osaka in Japan. Under Allen’s ownership, Ichi Ban has recorded some outstanding results, including winning IRC Division A of the 2003 Rolex Sydney Hobart, quickly followed by an IRC Overall win at Sailing South Week and Geelong’s Skandia Week in the same year.
