Owner David Stephenson, who was part of the 2004 overall winning crew of Aera, has campaigned Matangi extensively in long offshore passages such as the Melbourne – Stanley and Melbourne – Launceston races, but it’s been three years since the boat took on a Rolex Sydney Hobart.  Extensive offshore experience amongst the crew including multiple Hobarts, Rolex Fastnets, Rolex Middle Sea Races and a Newport to Bermuda Race.  Matangi, the sole Tasmanian yacht in the recent Melbourne to Stanley race, won the PHS division in an impressive qualifier.
