Knee Deep is a 15.3m racing yacht that was purchased by its current owners in May 2008. Built in Sydney by Boatspeed in 1999, she was launched in November that year and went to win the Sydney Hobart yacht race and claim the Tattersall’s Cup raced by previous owner Geoff Ross under the name Yendys.
After making the winning bid for the boat at auction, the current owners gave her lots of TLC including a new set of sails.
The crew of 14 consists of the core from previous Hobart challenges with the addition of several very experienced off shore sailors and skippered by Knee Deep Wines owner and Perth surgeon Phil Childs. Knee Deep claimed line honours in the 2009 Fremantle to Albany Race.
