Encore, a Jeanneau Sun Odyssey 49, was purchased by Michael Tromp and Tomoko Nakanishi as part of their business ‘Champagne Sailing Cruises’ based on the Gold Coast. Between charters they race and cruise her regularly, including enjoying a win in the 2019 Sail Paradise cruising division. This will be Tromps fifth Rolex Sydney Hobart, with some of the crew from his previous boat Epsilon (they won IMS Division C in the 2001 race), including navigating uncle, Fred Tromp, also along for his fifth Hobart. Nakanishi brings with her a wealth of racing experience from numerous national and world J24 Championships, as well as her international match racing skills when she campaigned as a skipper on the professional circuit in the mid-2000’s.
