Profile
Last year’s Hobart was Bacardi’s record 31st edition of the race and she placed 26th overall and fourth in Division 4. The Peterson 44 went on to place fourth in the 2025 Teakle Adelaide to Port Lincoln Race. The 2023 Hobart marked only her second retirement (the other was 2010 when her rig broke), saying everything you need to know about this well designed and built yacht from the IOR era. By 2022, Brett Averay co-owned and skippered Bacardi in the 2022 Hobart.
Her best results were second overall to another golden oldie, Love & War, in 2006. Bacardi placed third in IRC in 2001 and fourth in IRC in 2000, when the winner was still decided under IMS. She was also one of the finishers in the fatal 1998 race. Bacardi loves heavy weather.
