Profile
As Toecutter, this Hick 10 placed 27th overall last year after coming to the 2023 Rolex Sydney Hobart brand new and placing 28th and fourth in Division 4, skippered by the yacht’s respected Australian naval architect/builder, Robert Hick.
Hick’s designs have been newsworthy over the years, his most famous design/build was the 1998 Sydney Hobart winner, AFR Midnight Rambler, showing the integrity of Hick designs. This year, Hick’s boat is racing as Kraken Sails Toecutter, with Kraken Sails Director, Christie Hamilton, navigating.
This Hick 10, which follows on from Hick’s other self-designed yachts, was launched in late October 2023 in time for her maiden race, the Melbourne to Devonport (Rudder Cup) in which she won PHS Division 2 as she awaited her IRC rating. Expect good things from this boat and her crew if it’s a small boat race.
