Profile

Lucky contested the Hobart as Rambler 88 for George David in 2015, finishing third over the line after a match race with Ragamuffin 100 for second place. American, Bryon Ehrhart, bought and renamed her in 2023.

This year she took monohull Line Honours in the RORC Transatlantic Race, beating Comanche’s 2022 record. She took monohull Line Honours in the Caribbean 600 and won the Barn Door Trophy as first monohull to finish the Transpac Race. While this is Ehrhart’s first Sydney Hobart, 30 years ago he took a crew training course in Sydney.

The experienced yachtsman has previously owned a TP52, a Reichel/Pugh 63 and a Maxi 72, all called Lucky. This latest Lucky, from Juan K, was designed to let rip off the breeze and downwind. When not sailing, Ehrhart, from Chicago, is the Global Head of Strategic Growth & Development at Aon, a leading global professional services firm.
