Profile
Damien Parkes is Skippering this Sydney 38 known previously as Molon Labe and Wild One. Mazu Denali’s Little Helper is so named because of Parkes’ larger TP52, Denali.
The 38 is being sailed to Hobart to run the yacht in – like cars, boats need long leg stretches to stay in shape and the 80th Sydney Hobart seemed the right opportunity to Parkes, whose illustrious Sydney Hobart career includes second overall on Gretel in 1980 and taking Line Honours on Vengeance in 1981.
Parkes also skippered his own famous yacht, Freight Train, in seven races. The last four Hobarts have been done on his TP52, Denali.
