Fontana, a 1993 Frers Swan 40, is shared by two couples restoring her while racing and cruising. She has completed two Port Stephens and two Hamilton Island regattas, winning her last three races. Offshore experience includes a Sydney–Lord Howe Island return and the Gold Coast–Mackay race.

This is Coombes’ first Sydney Hobart and Capanna’s second, joined by four family members and two friends. She may not be the fastest, but Fontana promises a comfortable ride south.
