Koamaru was an unsuccessful Admiral's Cup trialist some years ago and sailed in the Sydney Hobart in 1979 and has raced out of her home town, Wellington, for the past 20 years. She has cruising fjordland, and although no longer raced in Cat 1 for the last 15 years, she races in PHRF and club handicap series successfully and was the holder of the Cruising Championship for 5 years.
